The Board of Directors of the Bach Collegium-Fort Wayne is pleased to announce its first season of four concerts and that the major work is J. S. Bach's Mass in B minor. The Collegium choir is a group of 25 experienced singers, whose goal it is to model the Baroque style and perform with Baroque period instruments. Scheduled preceding each concert is a lecture by a renowned musicologist. The first lecturer, on October 27, 3 p.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, is the president of the Collegium's Board, Dr. K Marie Stolba, author of The Development of Western Music: A History, and professor emeritus at IPFW. Next, also at St. Paul's, is Dr. Robin A. Leaver, president of the American Bach Society, on 21 January at 5:30 p.m. Then, Mary Frandsen, professor at the University of Notre Dame is featured at Zion Lutheran Church on 23 March, 3 p.m., and finally, Christoph Wolff, author of Johann Sebastian Bach: The Learned Musician, on 18 May, 3 p.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church.
The Bach Collegium's choir is a non-denominational, interfaith, interracial, and not-for-profit ensemble, directed by Dr. Daniel G. Reuning. Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings at Redeemer Lutheran Church beginning 17 September. There are openings in each voice part.
